Die Elternzeit muss dahingehend angepasst werden, dass die Vereinbarkeit von Familie und Beruf verbessert wird und die Gleichstellung von Mann und Frau fördert. So könnte man bspw. (wie die im Kanton BE gescheiterte Initiative) eine bestimmte Anzahl Wochen Elternzeit vorsehen, wobei ein gleich langer Teil für jeden Elternteil reserviert ist und die restliche Zeit können sich die Eltern frei aufteilen.
