C'est une énergie à la fois bas-carbone (même avec l'énergie grise) et "en ruban", donc disponible en tout temps. La seule vraie alternative est le gaz, qui pollue. Seule l'énergie hydraulique a des avantages comparables. Dans le même temps, la diversité dans le monde des exportateurs d'uranium et les faibles volumes nécessaires favorisent la souveraineté du pays. Enfin, le problème des déchets est fortement surestimé ; les volumes sont faibles et l'enfouissement en couche profonde est sûr.
